Which color mix is right for me?

With the Lustr®+ and Vivid™ color arrays, ETC gives you a choice: high-impact or high-visibility lighting. The luminaires may seem similar at first glance – they both give you superior efficiency and advanced color-mixing capabilities, and both include seven different emitters – but, just as you would consider where to use a PAR or a Fresnel, each Vivid or Lustr+ LED fixture is suited to a specific task. Knowing what distinguishes the two arrays will help you decide which one is right for you.

Is the Lustr+ mix the one for me?
Looking for a low-energy, high-brightness frontlight or sidelight? Have to light a speaker at a podium? Need to switch to soft, tinted lighting to create a mood? Lustr+ fixtures can do all that and more.

The Lustr+ luminaires are bright, low-energy frontlights and sidelights. They combine six colors – red, amber, green, cyan, blue and indigo – with one channel of the latest technology in white LED emitters, to produce pure white and tinted light that can be transformed from tungsten to daylight. You get crisp whites, pale blues, ambers, pinks and lavenders – all the colors you expect from a front- or sidelight.
Lustr+ luminaires are 20% brighter than Vivid fixtures when creating subtly colored light. The Lustr+ arrays can be adjusted for individual skin tones, making them appear natural on camera. And they bring out the beauty of set pieces and museum exhibits.

Where would you use Lustr+ fixtures?
Lustr+ luminaires are suited for any front- or sidelight application, and are your go-to fixtures for general-purpose illumination and high-visibility lighting. Use Lustr+ to replace your tungsten fixtures in blackbox theaters, television studios, houses of worship or cafetoriums.

Is the Vivid mix the one for me?
Need to bathe the stage in bright, daring colored light? Want to create the effect of a rainbow? Have to wash a wall or cyc with striking color? ETC’s Vivid fixtures have you covered.

The Vivid array is high-energy color with low energy output. Think of Vivid luminaires like oil paints – you use them when you need color-brightness and bold impact. Vivid LED fixtures’ balanced blend of seven LED emitters – red, orange, amber, green, cyan, blue and indigo – provides the brightest and most vibrant color of any LED fixture. And they’re the most effective in the highest color saturation – 10 to 15% brighter than Lustr+ fixtures. You get hues that remind you of the gels you’ve used for years – in an efficient format.

Where would you use Vivid fixtures?
Vivid luminaires are for long-throw, over-the-stage applications like back, down and side lighting. You can blend them with your tungsten sources for brilliant, theatrical-quality stage washes. Use on stage, in the studio, for rentals or nightclubs.

ETC created Vivid and Lustr+ to cover the various needs you have at your venue. By putting the luminaires in one of the Calibrated Color Modes RGB or HSI, Vivid and Lustr+ fixtures will match whatever color you need them to. Each fixture has specific tasks that it can perform, and when combined on a rig, Lustr+ frontlights and Vivid color washes reduce the number of compromises you make when you hang a fixture.
