Desire LEDs come in indoor and outdoor models

Location

Desire fixtures work everywhere – on the stage, in the sun or snow, in the studio, or any architectural venue.

We know you want to take energy-efficient lighting wherever you’re working, whether it’s indoors on the stage or on the set, or outdoors braving the elements. That’s why the Desire line of LED arrays gives you options to meet your various needs. There are two versions: standard for interior use and the Desire XT™ fixture for exterior use. The standard Desire luminaires come in two models: the bright D40 and the super-bright D60. UL 1573 Listed as stage and studio fixtures, the D40 luminaires are fully convection-cooled for totally silent operation. The super-bright D60 model is fan-cooled with a variable-speed, low-noise fan for nearly silent operation. Desire XT luminaires can enhance any outdoor installation, permanent or temporary. XT fixtures are convection-cooled, IP66 rated for exterior use, and can handle whatever Mother Nature throws at them, from snow to rain and wind to sun.

Advanced heat management

Desire luminaires are designed to deal with “droop”

Outsmarting “droop”
Fact: All LED lighting is affected by the phenomenon known as ‘droop.’ Simply put, as the temperature of an LED increases, the light output of the LED decreases. Maybe you haven’t heard much about this. Other LED fixture manufacturers ignore droop and hope you will too. But if it’s not managed, droop can produce undesirable lighting effects. Some manufacturers’ LED fixtures droop away up to 40% of their available light. To make matters worse, different colors droop at different rates, so that a favorite color you set now won’t be the same color in a few hours, altering the look of your lighting design.

We don’t ignore ‘droop.’ We acknowledge it and account for it. ETC’s Selador Desire® LED fixtures are engineered to compensate for droop.

Thermal management

Desire’s innovative cooling design helps dissipate heat, no matter what position the luminaire is in. The D40 and D40XT luminaires are completely convection-cooled for silent operation. The D60, with its 60 powerful emitters, uses a quiet, internal variable-speed fan for cooling electrical components.

Droop management

Desire electronics measure the temperature of each color and regulate the LEDs so that brightness stays the same.

Settings for different environments
Desire’s special thermal-management settings directly address droop. Easy to access and customize (right on the back of the fixture), these settings allow you to change power regulation and take advantage of lower operating temperatures, or take extra care for longer duty cycles and higher heat. Choose the ‘Boost’ mode for maximum brightness during short intervals. Choose ‘Regulated’ mode for constant output of color and brightness under average operating conditions. Choose ‘Protected’ mode for operating in high ambient temperatures such as outdoor installations. Desire will automatically adjust power to ensure the fixture operates safely. These settings make a big difference in theatrical, broadcast and architectural lighting applications where a fixture must keep the same level of brightness and color over periods of time.

Quick Setups

Sophisticated electronics, quick configuration.

The Desire line of LED luminaires has five, standard Quick Setups for ‘set it and forget it’ operation in any environment. In one simple step, you can customize the fixture to work in the ideal mode for general use, stage, high-impact, architectural, and studio lighting. The Quick Setups enhance the power of one light fixture for use in a range of applications. They can be activated at the fixture, or set remotely using Remote Device Management (RDM) from any RDM-enabled controller, such as an ETC lighting control console.
