Desire brings the LED luminaire under your control

Simplifying complex color

You don’t have to be an alchemist to produce colors with the x7 Color System™.

One of the main benefits of LED lighting is the ability to create millions of colors. But you don’t want to waste time mixing color to get the hue you need. That’s why ETC incorporated sophisticated electronics and the x7 Color System into the Selador® Desire family of LED luminaires. Desire fixtures allow you to set color your way, from the most basic RGB inputs to more precise HSI modes, including 16-bit hue control and a separate white-point control. HSI and RGB modes also mean that the Desire luminaires will work with the color pickers on most lighting consoles. When working with an ETC console, you can select from a gel-color palette to choose the color you want your Desire fixture to produce. If you can’t find the right hue in the palette, simply tweak the color to get the one you need, achieving maximum color in minimum time.

Just for fiddlers. The Desire luminaires include the new Plus 7 mode that gives you even more control over color. The Plus 7 mode adds an additional seven adjustable channels to the calibrated RGB or HSI controls, allowing you the ability to increase or decrease any individual color quickly. If the color is close but not close enough, enable the Plus 7 mode to adjust the LED emitters directly. If you change your mind, you can instantly disable Plus 7 to go back to where you started.

A smooth fade, all the way to black

LED fixtures should dim the way you want them to. Desire luminaires do.

Getting a smooth fade from an LED luminaire can be tricky – you need your digital device to behave in an analog way. ETC designed the Desire line of luminaires differently. With special fade algorithms to match your situation, our intensity-fades outperform other LED luminaires’.

You can select a tungsten profile that will match the Source Four® fixtures on your rig. You’ll get a slower bump response like a Source Four fade, and the Desire luminaire will hold its color as it fades, unless you direct it not to. The Desire line’s exclusive Red Shift mode lets the fixtures more closely match the red shift characteristics of your tungsten fixtures. When you activate Red Shift mode, colors will shift slightly toward their red elements as they fade. Your Surprise Pink is once again surprising!

Want your Desire fixture to resemble other LED lights? Put the fixture into a standard fade profile to get lightning-fast response and to fade like a digital device.

Remote Device Management

It’s like having a remote control in each fixture.

ETC gives you a range of settings for the Desire family of LED luminaires, and a convenient way of accessing them. With the Remote Device Management (RDM) capability in the Desire line, you can change the fixture without having to go to the fixture. Settings in the Desire luminaires can be adjusted from any RDM-enabled controller, such as an ETC lighting console. The Desire units can send status updates to the console and be quickly and easily discovered on the data network, and changes to the fixture configuration can be performed at the console.

Stand Alone mode

Not every show uses a console, so ETC built the console right into the Desire fixtures.

All of the Desire luminaires can operate in Stand Alone mode, recalling up to 32 presets and one sequence and playing them back continuously. The fixtures’ functions are accessible from the user interface on the back of the units. The Stand Alone mode provides any venue with fixed or dynamic lighting automatically, day after day.

Multiple Desire fixtures can also be controlled from a single luminaire. Connecting the fixtures with standard DMX cables gives you the ability to set presets at the master luminaire and transfer them down the line to other fixtures. If you turn off the power and then repower the units, the master-slave chain will start right where the fixtures left off.
